It appears in an instant, and can linger for months in the summer heat. Mildew is a mold that thrives in warm, confined places, and air fresheners will combat the smell but not the source. 1. Find the source. Your whole car might smell of mildew, but as long as you catch it early, it should be localized to a single area.
