The Suzuki Equator has been garnering good reviews since its introduction into the American market, with reviewers admitting pleasant surprise at the vehicle’s capability and ruggedness. In line with those reviews, a recent US News report ranked the 2011 Equator 3 out of 7 compact pickup trucks. The ranking was based on their analysis of 26 published reviews and test drives of the Suzuki Equator, and their analysis of reliability and safety data.

Suzuki teamed up with Nissan to develop the Equator based on the popular Nissan Frontier. The Equator has the Frontier’s wide portfolio of talents, with marketing that’s pitched more at the recreational and off-road users. The Equator comes with either an extended or crew cab, short or long bed, and two or four-wheel drive. There are four trims: Base, Premium, Sport and the RMZ-4 trim, which adds off-roading capabilities and accessories. The Equator differs from the Frontier in grille, paint colors and some Suzuki badging inside and outside the vehicle and is available with V6 or four-cylinder engine options.

American Suzuki has started out 2011 with a kick! The new ‘Kizashi Kicks’ campaign features three 30-second and two 15-second television commercials that communicate the Kisazhi’s performance, capability and value using humor and some pretty cool graphics.

Whether outmaneuvering an army of snowmen in adverse weather or breezing through a test drive on a course of (yup) banana peels, the campaign illustrates the Kizashi’s competitive spirit against luxury competitors in safety, braking, handling and quietness tests.

The 2011 Suzuki Kizashi Sport SLS ups the fun factor with front-wheel drive and a six-speed manual transmission. In addition, 18-inch wheels, a tweaked lower front fascia and perforated leather seating make it an exceedingly good-looking car.

In a recent article,  the staff at Automobile Magazine test drove the 2011 Kizashi Sport SLS to see how is measured up to the Four Seasons model. Of the five reviews, all agreed that the Kizashi Sports six-speed manual transmission (as opposed to the CVT continuously variable transmission) made for a crisp, fun ride that handles well. Added KYB suspension adjustments made for a “buttoned down” ride.
