As reviewed by caranddriver.com, the Suzuki Swift Hybrid Plug-In is a Tokyo-bound concept car similar to the SX4 sold here in the US market.

This plug-in hybrid gets a 660cc engine from the Suzuki Kei.  The motor acts as a generator to charge the batteries while driving, providing a range extending setup. Suzuki has positioned the car towards customers who travel fewer than 12 miles a day.

According to the article, the exciting new Suzuki Swift Plug-In Hybrid concept leads to visions of a hybrid Kizashi, perhaps with an increased electric-only range.

Is the Suzuki Swift really coming back to the U.S.? Motor Trend magazine posted an interesting article on the 2011 Suzuki Swift, adding to the speculation that the Swift may be returning to U.S. soil.

The re-designed Suzuki Swift gets 47-56 mpg and still packs some power with a 92 hp engine. This nimble car is smaller than the Suzuki SX4 and will allow drivers the versatility of a modern city car. While the car may be small in size, its big on value with the combination of price and functionality. It will allow drivers to zip around town without the hassles (or fuel economy) of a bulkier car.

Eagle-eyed Suzuki aficionados will notice revised headlights and taillights, a slightly longer and wider body, and an interior that resembles the Kizashi’s. – Motor Trend Magazine
